Another quite elusive family. I saw only two Conopids in 2006 in Hungary.
Is this extremely pretty Conopid Leopoldius diadematus?

Well, if you saw only 2 Conopids, this is one and the Physocephala is the other one, congratulations !

I have not been to the mountains this summer, where I would surely have seen more Conopids (and Bombyliids). In the plains this family seems to be elusive.
I think this species is very rare in Hungary, I found it in a rather special, highly protected sand dune habitat. And only one individual.
Can you confirm that this is L. diadematus?
