Thread subject: Diptera.info :: (Lepidoptera) Hesperiidae

Place: garden

I could not make a decide that it is a Thymelicus sylvestris or an Ochlodes venatum. This butterfly flew around the plants in my garden. I have taken two images from it.

Hi Eguzki,

I'd say Ochlodes venata male. Look at the orange squares on the forewings (it's the only one with those squares as far as I know, and the light part of the antennae. Cheers.

In Fauna Europae, it's Ochlodes sylvanus (Esper, 1777).

Hi Louis,

My book says that Ochlodes sylvanus is an invalid homonym.
