One of the common Ichneumonini - I always put these down as Amblyteles sp. but I am probably wrong as there are a lot of very similar species and the British keys are really horrible to use ;)

One for Camille to consider, I think :)

If Camile says that it is Ichneumon sp. then forget Amblyteles ;) Camile is saying that it is the genus Ichneumon, not just "an ichneumon wasp" :)

One of our biggest problems is the state of the keys for UK Ichneumon/Amblyteles ... they are very hard to work through and so there are probably a lot of incorrect identifications out there - perhaps even the majority are wrong. It's a real pity because they are so common and so easy to find in the countryside in summer.
