Hello Syrphid-experts,
this Syrphus-specie was found resting on the leaves of a tree. I don't think it's Syrphus ribesii. I would be very happy about ID-help!
Location: Germany (Lower Saxony; Salzgitter); April 2011

I do not think it is
S. ribesii, because femur 3 is not completely yellow. So i think this is
S. vitripennis or
S. torvus, Distinguished by the hairs on their eyes, a character not visible (for me) on this photo.

thank you very much for your feedback and the explanations! Unfortunately I have no better photo of the eyes. So it will remain Syrphus sp. .
