? Tony, so it is what you wrote about:
"I should point out that not all tenuicosta show the "waisted" spot. Some of them have a less obvious triangular spot, but in all the specimens I've seen, the spot widens anteriorly (towards R4+5)."

That's it exactly, Nikita. The specimens in
http://www.dipter...post_13974 show the typical waisted spot. In
stagnalis the spot is square or oval, but never waisted or thin triangular.
