Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Fly with Prey

Any ideas on ID of this fly- about the 4th time I've captured one of these eating other flies. Taken Yesterday South Coast uk. Fly about 7.3mm body length.

The prey is a gall midge, unmistakebly from the wing venation. As for the predator, I rarely touch the calyptrate stuff. ;)

A large coenosiine muscid - Kahis may be able to ID it straight away - I'll be able to do something with it later, but right now I've got some furniture to shift! :(
