When I first saw this fly I thought it was Phoridae, because the abdominal markings looked like some Phorids I found a few weeks ago. But some things look different, like the antennae.
On this fly the antennae have plumose arista. Length averaged about 3.5 mm. There were a number of these flies on a sort of "sheet fungus" that was covering an old stump.
In rich woods, not far from a stream.
ID help would be appreciated.

Proctoss, Tony, Thanks very much for the ID! (& Tony, though perhaps 1000 km distant, that Illinois fly was indeed a close match for mine!)
