It seems to me that I've already posted a similar fly...
Anyway, this time the pictures are better :).
Size 3.5mm.
When extended, its ovipositor is longer than half of the body.

This is indeed a female Lonchaeid, the majority of species cant be told apart but this one is easier to identify - its Lonchaea fugax the "yellow footed lancefly" is there any chance that I can use some of these images for a forthcoming Handbook on the British species ?? you can contact me at iain.macgowan@snh.gov.uk ...
