Hi dear all,
I found this Asilid flies on a warm edge of the forest close to meadow taken a sunbath.
Is Tolmerus the right genus and maybe then T. atricapillus is the right species?
Size: ~10-12mm, Location: Germany, Lower Saxony, Göttingen, Kerstlingeröder Feld, 04.10.10
Thanks for any suggestions, Christian

Hi Christian,

yes, this is a Tolmerus spec. Unfortunately there is no further 100 % ID possible, because the ventral side of the male's abdomen is not visible. Most likely it is T. atricapillus. Do you have another picture more from lateral view?

Greetings, Danny Wolff

Hi Danny,
thanks for your reply. No, unfortunately I have no lateral view. So I have to live with Tolmerus cf. atricapillus ;-)
Cheers, Christian
