Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Chalcis sispes?

Photographed today, Rye, East Sussex. A few of these were flying around a brackish pool, some of them guarding Stratiomys singularior egg-masses. Apparently three species in Britain, two of which are very rare or extinct. Can anybody confirm C. sispes from this image or at least suggest id features or a suitable key (I have a specimen if necessary)
