Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tolmerus from the Netherlands Please help with ID

Probably it turns out to be cingulatus or atricapillus. But there is somthing bothering me. The legs are not cingulatus and the genital is not atricapillus(lacks the "beard" just before it on the belly side) Also shape and colour of genital don't seem to be right.

Could this be Tolmerus pyragra?

Yes, could be. But I think, this specimen can not be identified with certainty to species level. The intersegmental skin at the tip of the abdomen is somewhat swollen, so the "lab" on the 8th sternit may be obscured in this view angle. I for myself believe that there is a lab (--> atricapillus) as indicated by some longer hairs where otherwise no one would be.

Thanks Danny! Next time when i see one i will collect it! I'm not giving up just yet...... i have lightened the genital part up in the hope it would reveal something.....Have a look and if it reveals nothing more so be it.;)
