Hi,
Today I met a giant Asilid on a dry meadow (btw we have only dry meadows due to the lasting heat wave). The impressive black beast measured 3 cm at least, may be more. As to the "claw" at the fore tibiae I guess
Dasypogon, but help is greatly appreciated!

Hi,
this is indeed a Dasypogon diadema, if the picture was taken in Germany.
Do you have the excact location ?
