My garden, Kapellen, Belgium. Not sure about Asilidae (I'm not really a dipterologist). Is genus or even species possible? More pictures and specimen available if needed. Thanks in advance.

Asilidae it is, but I am neither an expert. I can exclude some genera, however, but your fly is a female which makes identification difficult. Male genitalia are distinctive. The experts might recognize the genus, so let's wait for them.

Thanks for your reply. I looked through the Gallery once again. To me, it's Machimus, Eutolmus, Philonicus or Rhadiurgus, but I only paid attention to the general shape as I don't know the charachteristics for keying. But as you said, I will wait for the experts. Black legs with black bristles, pattern on thorax but most important in this case is the black genital part(ovipositor) at the end of the abdomen, shape very typical.
