Hello,
I always thought the pattern on the thorax of
Maythropa florea very characteristic. But this fly hat the habitus rather of an
Eristalis. What is it?
Myathropa nevertheless?
I found it some days ago near Cologne. Lenght was about 10mm.
Thanks,
Michael

In case of doubt, look at the wing venation :
Myathropa has an open r1 cell,
Eristalis have a closed one (and even short petiolate).
Here it is closed, so
Ersitalis, plus the four anterior pairs of tarsi which are yellow : that gives
Eristalis pertinax.
