Hello syrphidae-forum,

This syrphidae I found near Amsterdam some weeks ago.
there was a lot of rain and the fly became a bit wet.

I took several pictures, trying to identify this fly.

On these I can see that the pterostigma in the wing is more long then broad
I see some hairs on the eyes
The first tarsus seems to be dark..

Perhabs this is a female eristalis abusiva? or eristalis arbustorum?

It would be nice to dissolve this mystery

Hi Robert - The very short-haired arista, dark hind tibia and tarsus, pale middle tibia, and narrow facial stripe all suggest Eristalis abusivus. E.arbustorum has longer hairs on the arista and a much darker mid tibia.
