A little explanation:
The image I have of a typical fly is that of a house-fly, a calliphorid or sarchophagid, these kind of proportions. My brain always thinks first of something else than a fly looking bug when looks at things like asilids or rhagionids or even dolis ... :)
And this is the smallest fly (looking like a fly ;) ) I've seen so far, no more than 3mm long! And I have no ideia of what it is!

Well, currently a draw!
It's either one of those Phasia mentioned, and I cannot tell at the moment.
If digitalg can post an enlargement of the head area, we may still be able to decide ...

Ha! we're back online :)
Being this a small fly, and the focus not being perfect (some wind and only one chance) I really don't know if we can get more detail on the head.
But here it is ...

Good enough for the ID. It is barbifrons. You can count the number of rows of the hairs on the parafrontalia by looking at their roots (dark spot on silvery background) . (Sorry Tony)

The things a person can see when one knows what to look for! :)
I had read the other Phasia thread and it did look to me that there were hairs and not bristles here.
