This fly too seemed to be resting on a giant squash leaf. The length of this one was 2.4 mm. Open area near woodland, West Virginia, USA, taken yesterday.
ID help appreciated!

Very delicate for Chloropidae, but you could be right. My first impression was Asteiidae, though.
