Hello,
This was on my windowsill near Lincoln UK on 8th July 2009. N. cothurnatus is the only other
Neoitamus specie we have here but it is rarer. I have found pics of both but I can't see the difference, is it possible to say which this is?
Neoitamus cothurnatus looks to have a very small distribution much more in the south, but I have other insects which are here and should not be according to distribution maps.;)
Any help much appreciated.
4 pics, but I have more similar. If required I can crop to a closer area.

Hi,
N. cyanurus and N. cothurnatus cannot be separated by the mean of a picture. The completely dark front metatarsus makes it more likely that this is a cyanurus.

Hi Danny,
Thank you! I had noticed the yellow on the front metatarsus of Neoitamus cothurnatus but wasn't sure if it was variable.
As N. cothurnatus is not likely anyway, I will mark mine as Neoitamus cyanurus. There are no pics in the gallery of a female, I wonder if it would be acceptable to put some in as Neoitamus cf. cyanurus?
