Help, please!
I search a photo of Simuliidae adult and larva to illustrate a paper!
Thanks!

I have no definite Simuliidae image, let alone a high quality one. I also do not remember any thread on this family, but I have one candidate from this spring Hungary.
Do you think this small midge could belong to Simuliidae or maybe to another family. Unfortunately I have no lateral view.

Now I remember that I have a confirmed Simuliidae image, but also low quality.
This one is from my 2005 New Zealand trip. These sand flies were a major nuiscence.
Unfortunately for this size reange one really has to posess a SLR camera with some high quality macro lense.

Can someone confirm of refute whether the first midge photo illustrates a Simuliid midge?

Second image is from New Zealand, completely different species. Is one of the infamous black flies that makes life difficult there. The second one is a black fly for sure.

They both look like simuliids to me!

Sorry for my tardy reply (I was in the field trip).
I've shot these flies near St.-Petersburg (Russia):
double photo at June 6, 2005, and other at August 15, 2006
(this year was very fruitful for these creatures :) ).

I think that I was bitten by 2 different species on the 3rd photo (and on the 4th photo, seen on the fuzzy background). Isn't it? :)
