Hi, maybe someone can help with this little one. I was so lucky that in 4 day' time I found two different fleas of 2 families. One was a Pulex irritans female in dog and this male was found in an empty bird's nest (some Passeriformes I think) in E-Hungary. I think the male genital organs are quite well visible on this photo, but I can still clear 'em up with NaOH. I got to the conclusion that this is a Ceratophyllus. But I could easily exclude every species in my key, based on the form of the holding structure. I excluded:C rusticus, hirundinis, styx, farrni, rosittensis, affinis, pullatus, gallinae, fringillae, tribulis, columbae, garei, borealis. It wolud be a graet help if someone threw a look in another key, not for Hungary.
PS: I'm trying also to rear some diptera from the nest.

Interesting: pretty sure you're right, it seems to be a
Ceratophyllus, but which ? Those you have excluded seem not to be it, and the Rothschild Collection volume on Ceratophyllidae never appeared (as far as I know). i need to check this in the Faune de France volume, which I don't have myself and will need to borrow - I'll get back...
