Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Asilidae -> Neoitamus socius (M)

Hello,

what asilid is this? I found it in july near a wooded mountain river in the austrian alps. Length was estimated 13mm. Perhaps Neoitamus?

Thank you Danny,

up to this point I only had Neoitamus cyanurus and I can't see any differences. How do you differentiate these?

Hi,

1. different shape of epandrium
2. more extensive dark hairs on sternit 8
3. yellow base of metatarsus of front leg
