Hi,
Did I finally get a greenbottle fly? What species? Pictured in Dar es Salaam, about 12mm long. Thanks

Chrysomya albiceps male.

I thought the spiracles looked kinda black... Don;t albiceps have white one?

Right, Chrysomyia but not albiceps.

There are several afrotropical species.

Africa is very rich for Calliphoridae, there are Lucilia-like Chrysomya and Chrysomya-like Lucilia etc.
Nobody knows is steam-vein hairy or not in this fly.
I'd say Greenbottle, neither Ch.albiceps, nor Ch.megacephala...

I agree with Nikita, since this is really Afrotropical, let's be more careful.
I have the keys to the Afrotropics, so if any of this material has been collected, I can get a positive ID.

Material collected, as in fly captured? Then no, I don't have any.

Thanks for the help.

Yes, as in fly captured.

So if you really want to know the proper names of these flies, I'm afraid collecting in necessary in most cases.
