Photographed at a lit window at Scatsta Airport, Shetland Isles. Any idea on identity?

Apparently the common name for this Moth
IS Winter Moth (Operophtera brumata):o so this has been a waste of a thread.:oWhat a dumb name :|

You learned something so it wasn't a waste. I had 3 in each of my still functioning malaise traps for the week 29th Dec 2008 to 4th Jan 2009

Heh.. It's not that dumb a name.. It's at least accurate, which is better than a lot of insect names.. :)

Thanks Gordon and Moo, maybe I chose the wrong name for the thread..Winter Moth, and then asking for an ID for what turned out to be a Winter Moth by name. Is this the only Moth out in Winter?
