Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Syrphus sp. requires an ID.

Getting an ID for this Syrphus would complete my Hoverflies for 2008. Thanks to all who have spared the time for the past 3months + to ID my posts.:).

Syrphus torvus or vitripennis, female.
Closer ID not possible.

Thanks for that Andre, I was kind of hoping it was Torvus
but sp. it will be.:|.

If it was early spring/end winter, chances for torvus grow ;)

Take the earliest Syrphus specimens that come up after the winter and you have the best chance, between relatively lower cases of ribesii and vitripennis.
