Photographed on 2nd Sept. in the garden. Can't remember the size, but it looks pretty small on Ribes leaf. Don't know where the red sheen came from, as it hasn't been worked on Photoshop.

How come you got an answer before I got it posted? A bit like a Scathophagid (if that's the right word)? waiting to pounce on unsuspecting threads.:o
I have two Simuliidae on my checklist-Simulium aureum and Simulium zetlandense. The second of those must be a local species as Zetland is another name for Shetland. Hjaltland being another from our past.
