Here you have a couple from SE Spain, Aguilas. Aprox. 100 masl. 30/04/2008. Size aprox. 13 mm each. Are they also Dischistus?

Thanks,

Guillermo

Yes also Dischistus. This is a very useful photo as i have not seen a male of this species before. This is what Farancois called Dischistus separatus. He was not confident that his specimens were the separatus of Becker, and nor am I, however, for now i call this Dischistus separatus sensu Francois.

In this species the female has a shining black band across the frons in front of the ocelli. In the male the eyes are clearly more widely separated than in biro or senex.

Guillermo - it would be useful perhaps to have this photo in the gallery, with a comment to reflect what David has said here. Can you submit the photo please?

If my memory does not fail, I think I have submitted it. Some times it takes a few days before the photo additions appear.
