Shot in W Spain, Caceres. Aprox. 350 masl. Dry grassland.
Aprox. 8-10 mm.

I presume you got this name from Austin? Well you are right but the name has changed, both genus and specific. It is a male Bombomyia discoidea, (analis now used for undatus). The female was recently posted here

Thanks David. No, the name was given to me by Paqui Mars in Insectariumvirtual.com, although she mentioned that she was not sure and that she was using some old keys. I will submit the photo to the gallery then.

hm... we have Bombomyia too.. but never seen one.
