I have not got any reply for this one in the general forum. It was shot in the top of Las Palmas at 2000 masl. It was quite large, around 3 cm.
Thanks,
Guillermo

Each Canary Island has its own
Promachus species, so this should be a male of
Promachus palmensis Frey, 1936. There is the description of the interesting courtship behaviour of
Promachus latitarsatus on
http://www.geller...romach.htm. Please add a copy on Wikipedia on
http://commons.wi...i/Asilidae. Yours

Thanks a lot for the identification Dysmachus. I tried uploading the photo in commons but it is to complicated. I got lost in the license part, and I lost the information I had already compiled each time I pressed an information tag. All the information concerning this specimen is here: http://www.insectariumvirtual.com/galeria/Asilinae-%2B-Orthoptera-RIP-img43850.search.html
If you need a good quality copy of the photo I will be glad to send it to you.
