Hi,

today (16.july.2008) i have visited a reserv of fluviatils sand dune.
this was one of the interesting fly found (many other where but just collected).
found my first miltogrammin ;)
this was on the sand: just almost flying just a little over the sand. (only one specimens, this, observed)

it is Craticulina tabaniformis? readed something here but ...
if something more needed, this particular specimen, is collected

after FE is the only species in Romania.

thanks for your help,

I think it is indeed Craticulina tabaniformis but I cannot exclude C. barbifera.

A picture with posterior - lateral view of head would help to show color of hears on backside of occiput: white is tabaniformis, black is barbifera (in this case).
