I'm writing on behalf of a very dear Sicilian friend who photographed this yellowish fly in Sicily in June. My first attempt was Muscidae, my second but not very convinced was Lauxaniidae. Dimensions, about 1 cm long.

Thanks a lot and I hope to have something of my own to post before long, Sarah

Coud it be Phaonia pallida, but rather the male than the female?

Thanks Paul. I did actually see that post but there were enough differences to leave me unconvinced, but of course that could be the fact that it is a male. Unfortunately the wing veins and hairs are not clear in the photograph, Sarah
