Hello everyone,
I photographed this fly on March 1, 2026, in Doberdò del Lago (Gorizia), NE Italy, in a damp karst environment.
Body length: ~1.6 mm
Unfortunately, the photo is not very sharp, so it might be difficult to run through dichotomous keys, but it is the only picture I have.
Could this be Stiphrosoma sabulosum? If so, its presence this far south would be quite unexpected. The photos I found online look somewhat similar, but do not match completely.
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!
