Hi everyone!

Key in "the book" leads me to Hybomitra muehlfeldi: First antennal segment with long hairs dorsally, not very slender palps -> angle between the eyes about 100° -> eye facets gradually get bigger upwards -> no golden hairs on first tergite.

16 mm long

28. June 2026, Austria, State of Salzburg, St. Johann im Pongau district, Felseralm near Obertauern, about 1620 m a.s.l., sitting on a wooden cow shed. Coordinates 47.24866, 13.51504

I am not sure about the palp.
Notopleural lobe is / seems totally dark.
And antenna is very red.\

So my gut feeling is male arpadi. (?)

Notopleural lobe is dark, indeed.

The hairs on first antennal segment are not too long for arpadi? At the one a few days ago they were so short, that I couldn't even find any (10x magnification under microscope).

Also I tried to make a better picture of the palp. Not so easy with my equipment, but maybe it shows a bit more. I still think it's not 2x as long as broad, though I'm not 100% sure...

Thanks.

A bit late in the year, but male H. lundbecki (hairs on first antennal segment short, antenna very orange, not. lobe dark, palpus relatively long and hairs on tergites 2-3 not 'bushy')

Ok, thanks!

Maybe it's because up there winter ends at least one month later than in "lower" areas like my Chiemgau Alps.
