Hello, this small fly with iridescent eyes appears to be of the genus Hydrellia. Is it possible to identify the species? The golden face and gray abdomen lead me to believe it is H. griseola. I have additional photos if needed.

Andre - Hydrellia are best identified by examining the male genitalia, but I feel that your specimen is almost certainly griseola. Check whether the mid femur has a row of postero-ventral bristles. If they are absent, then I'm 99% sure that this
is griseola.

I checked all my photos. Unfortunately, none of them confirm the absence (nor the presence) of PV setae on femur 2.
