Hi,
Ephydridae of 2 mm observed on february 9th in the north of Yonne department (France). The wing pattern of black spots and the scutum aspect with 2 dc may suggest Scatophila unicornis.. Is it correct ? With all my thanks for pour reply.

It does appear to be a Scatophila, but I'm not sure which species. J-H Stuke recently published a paper in which he describes another species with pale spots in the costal cell.

If you have the specimen and it is a male, then comparing its genitalia to published figures is the best way of identifying it with certainty.
