Hello,
I found this fly from the Tachinidae family at the edge of a small pond in Villeneuve d'Ascq (department Nord in France) on September 29, 2025.
After doing some research, it seemed to me that the female Macquartia tenebricosa species was a possibility.
What is your opinion on the matter ?
Thank you in advance.
Dominique

Hello Dominique, I think M. tenebricosa is correct and it's probably a fresh female (it's frons is not fully sclerotized yet).

Thank you very much, Eric, for your reply and clarification regarding the probable youth of the insect.
Greetings,
Dominique
