Yesterday evening on my balcony, attracted by the light. Minas de Riotinto, 11 October 2025.

A Ceratopogonid fly I have never seen before. Very small, 1.1 mm, even for Ceratopogonidae.

Any idea about its identity?

¡Saludos!
André

Looks like another Spanish midge I called probably Forcipomyia (Lepidohelea) pulcherrima. https://diptera.i...d_id=63756

Yes, it is a very beautiful tiny fly. Hence its name.

Thanks, once again. John. What would I do without you. :D
