Hello,
This Brachycera has been collected in a yellow pan trap in coastal area of Moorea, in French Polynesia.
I have no idea of its family, is it possible to tell based on this picture ?
Thank you for the help !

Based on your remarks, I've searched for Ephydridae Discomyzinae for the region, and
Discomyza maculipennis (Wiedemann, 1824) can be a good candidate, based on the habitus and wing pattern. This species is already reported from French Polynesia too.

Could be - it would be worth removing the specimen from fluid and drying it, to see whether the characteristic reticulate pattern of the thorax of
D. maculipennis is restored.

I dried some specimens and they do agree with the thorax pattern of
D. maculipennis. Thank you for the help.
