Hi,
yesterday, I found this Bibio sp. in Saxony in Germany. Is it a Bibio hortulanus?
Greetings
Marion

Hi Marion, female
Bibio hortulanus is correct. It's pleura are black while the similar
B. anglicus has red pleura.
based on BIBIONIDAE DE LA FAUNE BELGE - Jan Verbeke (Bruxelles)

And the wing tip is white in hortulanus, not so in anglicus.
Anglicus flies in april, hortulanus in may with hardly any overlap.
