Hello,
This diptera was photographed in Plaine du Roussillon (Pyrénées-Orientales, France) on March 5, 2025 (altitude 69 m). Its size is about 3 to 4 mm.
Can we confirm Forcipomyia bipunctata, or are there other species that have the same habitus?

This looks OK for
F. bipunctata, which is a common species found throughout Europe and North America. I do not know if there are similar species with which it can be confused, but I think you're safe to call this
bipunctata.
