Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Platycheirus clypeatus

I tried to follow a key, but got lost when it asked for color of hind legs ... I suppose it's not possible to say any more than Platycheirus sp from these poor photos. There are so many species in this genus.

Nota bene. I have better photos of the Asilidae.

Peltatus is as close as I can get, based upon the shape of the abdominal spots.

Wholy black antennae don't fit with P. peltatus. I think we're near Platycheirus clypeatus with this one (abdominal pattern better match too).

Spots look trapezium-shaped, characteristic for peltatus. But you are right about the black antennae, I forgot to look at that! Clypeatus, looking at the type of dusting on the frons.
