Hello everyone!
I think this fly is a Heleomyzidae. Can the pictures be used to identify the species or at least the genus?
I photographed it on December 26, 2024 on a rose bush (wilting flower) in our garden, Nuremberg region, 340 m above sea level. CL approx. 10 mm.
Best regards
Bernd

Hello neighbour, I'm not sure but I guess it may be a
Neoleria and likely a
N. ruficeps. And let's wait for the expert!

Not
Neoleria (Anterior orbital shorter than the posterior one). Without a specimen in my hand, I cannot assign it to a genus with this type of head's chaetotaxy :-(

Thank you very much Andrzej! I've confused orbital with vertical :|

Hello Andrzej!
Thank you for your correction.
I see it's difficult.
