Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Phthiria sp. and Anthidium sp.

Sierra Nevada, July 2007, 1100 m.

The fly is a Phthiria sp. (Bombyliidae), It was very interested in the bee and walking behind the bee and even touch it with his forefeet. May be it was tracing his host back to the nest?

would be interesting if you could prove it bur seems unlikely, as far as i can discover known hosts of Phthiria and related genera are Lepidoptera
