Hello,
I found this little fly at the beginning of August in Villeneuve-d'Ascq (northern France).
The insect was on a mint leaf at the edge of the water (lake).
I think the
Notiphila genus is the right one and I know there are many species belonging to this genus.
Is it possible to define a species ? On LMDI the species
Notiphila riparia is proposed : what do you think about this proposal ?
Thanks in advance for the help,
Dominique

Hello,
Are my photos not precise enough to decide on a species ?
Is it more reasonable to stick to genus ?
Thank you for your answer,
Dominique

Genus is fine. The trouble is that being sure about the species often requires examination of the male genitalia, so for me, it's
Notiphila sp. Others may be able to suggest a species.

Thank you very much Tony. Knowing the genus that is not bad at all.
Best regards.
