Thread subject: Diptera.info :: Tephritids on Helichrysum I: Heringina guttata

Hi,
On a dry grassland east of Berlin I came across very interesting insects recently. On a flowering stand of Helichrysum arenarium some typical Tephridids were running up and down. I would like to show them in the forum. Here we have Heringina guttata, a female.

The male was not far away.
They are very cute critters.

Very nice, a pity we don't have them in the Netherlands.
Germany seems to be a hotspot for Tephritids, but in the following article, (see the second picture), some people misinterprete the english term "Fruit Flies" :
