I photographed this orange-bodied fly on some Irises in a local park (Dublin Ireland) in mid-July.
It has some distinctive markings on the wings: one black dot on each wing and a black band which seems to transect the two wings farther back.
Siri on my i-Phone suggests it is Drosophila melanogaster.
Is that correct?
