For my purpoises I only really need to be sure of the
family for this fly. But if someone know what species it is, that would be brilliant!
But it's one of those difficult ones. I can't see the anal veins properly, though there are two strong bristles on the costal break, which might help.
Apical part of Sc almost straight. It's not Muscidae because M1 isn't curving towards R4+5
So it is Fanniidae?
Seen in a sandy coastal area, Cumbria, UK

Muscidae. 2+4 dorsocentrals and 0+1 acrostichals is a common combination in Muscidae but not in the other Muscoidea.
