I took pictures of this mycetophila on 21th January 2023 in Den Helder, Netherlands. Can someone tell me whether it is mycetophila unipunctata or not and which species it is than?
Thanks a lot,
Greetings,
Mario Renden

One spot in the wing, no ventral setae on the mid tibia ->
Mycetophila ruficollis group. Can females be identified using external morphology? Some can, some cannot. Unless you catch all the right details it is not really advisable to that from photos.
