Hi,
Here is a specimen I'm not sure about the family.
To me, this big subscutellum should make it a Tachinidae, but I can't make it fit in any genus (and with those longs hairs on arista, I believe it should be easy!)
So maybe I am wrong and it is a Sarcophagidae?
This specimen has two post ia
Prosternum hairy
3 post dc,
R1 hairy
from radio cubital node, hairy till halfway to rm.
Eyes bare
(Lateral view of the head gives a strange impression of hairs on the face. It is same individu)
Caught in the dunes.

Very few Tachinds have paraficial bristles, a clear key pointing towards Sarcs. The ‘big postscutellum’ you mentioned is not the postscutellum, but the structure below it. The postscutellum is actually narrow.

Aaaah, I now have the explanation! Sarcophagidae was my intuition, but couldn't find how to objectify it!
I didn't know that some structure could imitate the postscutellum, I'll have to be carefull.
A family I know almost nothing about, I'll keep this specimen for a day I'll get to it.
For now, I have to finish all my Tachinidae of the year!
Thanks for the help ;)

Take a Dinera, Tachina or other laege Tachinidae and study the postscutellum and the strucure below it. Then restudy this Sarc and you will reach enlightenment :)

I did not expect Sheldon to be quoted on this forum^^
I had to catch a Sarcophagidae once to understand this subscutellum thing! Now i'm sure I won't miss any Calliphoridae hidden in my Tachinidae to Id!
