UK. Chilterns chalk grassland in Bedfordshire. 20 June 2022. Large Asilid. I cannot decide whether this is
Machimus rusticus or
Eutolmus rufibarbis. Pale base to tibia, white bristles on legs and location on chalk all seem to point to
M. rusticus. Just longish sternal hairs at tip of abdomen make me unsure of my ID. Is it possible to confirm either species from these photographs please?
