Not really a tick (a very specialized acari). It is a mite.
Mites, along with ticks, belong to the subclass Acarina. I know that very soon will be release a very good book on Acarology. For those who are interested take a look here:

looks like the larva of a velvet mite Trombidium sp. or Trombididae. In late summer they are abundant
